Abstract
In 2016, we were presented with the idea that Americans may not be as United as we thought. With the events of 2020, we began to reimagine the fundamental fabric of what we believe to be the "United States of America." In this essay, I will discuss the dichotomy in the history of policing in America. To be effective in the analysis of police misconduct, you must reconcile with the uncomfortable truth embedded in our history.
