Abstract
This thesis is a study of the behavior of points under repeated iteration of a function defined on an interval I, i. e, given an x, we consider the sequence x, f(x), f2(x), f3(x), This sequence, called the orbit of x under f is actually a solution of the first order difference equation Xn+l = f(xn)· Throughout our study we will take f to be continuous on [0,1] with range [0,1]. Our concern will be to examine the variety of behaviors that orbits can possess. Based on these behaviors certain functions will be known as nomadic while others will be called chaotic.
